Question by Jenny Jones
You have promised that your third study on your proposed new hub airport will examine environmental issues. Will you ensure that this includes analysis of the embodied carbon and resource consumption implications of building a new hub airport?
Answer by Boris Johnson
This study is due to examine a range of commercial and deliverability aspects of a new airport for London. Its purpose is to define credible scenarios and locations for a new hub, and draw attention to any potential showstoppers and major barriers, rather than comprise a fully comprehensive cost and benefit assessment. My current plan is that my fourth report will address environmental issues.
