Question by Angie Bray
Does the Mayor believe that any Londoners have a legitimate need for a Band G vehicle?
Answer by Ken Livingstone (2nd Term)
I do believe that Londoners have options. Most cars that will be subject to the £25 charge have equivalent models in other bands including some sports utility vehicles, multipurpose vehicles and sports cars. For example, the Renault Espace, the Volkswagen Sharan, the Mercedes E Class all have models in Band F and Band G. The purpose of the CO2 charge is to send a clear signal to drivers with the highest CO2 emitting cars that they have to change their behaviour.
